2 killed, 10 injured as OPC, scavengers clash in Lagos





Two people were shot dead while 10 others were harmed when associated individuals with the Oodua People's Congress (OPC) and foragers of Hausa root conflicted at the Ijegun territory of Lagos State. 

The scroungers opposed claimed coercion by men accepted to be OPC individuals, prompting the conflict. 

The dissenters, who guaranteed to have been living along the pipeline for quite a long time, claimed that they had endured provocation and terrorizing in the hands of OPC individuals, who kept watch over the pipeline that gone through the zone. In their resistance, a conflict resulted, prompting the demise of two scroungers from weapon shot. Ten others supported wounds. 


One of the nonconformists, Haruna Ahmed, charged that associated individuals with OPC blackmail cash from them with compulsion, before they are permitted to work in the range. 

Inconvenience begun after some OPC individuals raged the territory in the early hours of yesterday and purportedly requested cash from a portion of the scroungers, which was turned down. The OPC individuals professedly left however returned at around 5am and furthermore met a resistance from the foragers, numbering more than 100. 

The OPC individuals were said to have withdrawn, just to return their numbers, shooting unpredictably. All the while, two Hausa men distinguished as Gazali Rabiu and Gadaffi Barawu were shot dead. 

Ten others, who maintained shot injuries, were later hurried to the healing center. 

The issue raised when the scroungers supposedly reached their partners from various parts of the state, who arrived and assaulted a security post along the pipeline involved by OPC. They additionally needed to storm the OPC workplaces around Ijegun, when policemen arrived the scene. 

It took the intercession of the Commander Area M, Idimu, Austin Akika, an Assistant Commissioner of Police and the Divisional Police Officers accountable for Igando and Isheri to assuage the furious Hausa scroungers.
