25-year-old man jailed for stealing telephones worth N104,000




An Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court on Thursday remanded one Titi Seun, 25, after pleading guilty to stealing  phones worth N104,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Y.O. Ekogbulu, in her ruling, said the accused, whose residential address is unknown, is to stay behind bars in Kirikiri Prisons pending sentence at the following date of adjournment.

The Prosecutor Clement Okuoimose had informed the court that the accused dedicated the offence on Dec. 6 at Dopemu, Agege, Lagos.

Okuoimose stated the accused stole two phones valued at N104,000, property of Mr Samuel Ikenna, using a rope.

The offence, he said contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which prescribes 3 years prison time period as penalty.

“The accused stole the complainant’s Samsung J7 valued at N96,000 and an itel cellphone worth N8,000 totalling N104,000.

“The complainant awakened from sleep and found that his two phones which he become charging had disappeared.

“He saw a protracted rope with nail which the accused used to cast off the phones from the charger.

“The complainant known as the telephones numerous instances but the accused refused to choose and he called one of the telephones numerous days later and a lady picked it and told him that the proprietor become now not around.

“The complainant told the female to give him her very own range in case he calls the proprietor’s range and it isn't going via he can name her and that he has an vital message for the proprietor of the cellphone.
“The girl gave the complainant her quantity and that brought about the arrest of the accused,” the prosecutor said.

The accused, who later confessed to the crime, attributed it to the handiwork of the satan as he pleaded for mercy.

The magistrate, however, adjourned the case till January 10 for sentence.
